Needed: A Resolution to a Hit-and-Run Accident

In our last issue of CaymanSpirit (#15, 29 April 2005), we shared the story of Alex Francisco Reyes who was paralysed after suffering a neck fracture. Mr. Reyes was knocked off his bicycle in a hit-and-run accident. Health Services Authority staff helped raise almost $15,000 so an air ambulance could take him home to his family in Honduras.

Traffic officers are still conducting enquires into the circumstances of this accident.

Mr. Reyes was struck from his bicycle by a dark-coloured motor car attempting to negotiate a turn into the parking lot of Crescent Point on West Bay Road, at 11:25am on Wednesday, 23 March 2005.

The RCIPS asks the driver of the turning vehicle to contact WPC Jackson of the Traffic Department at 244 3036 or 244 3037.

Additionally anyone with information about the accident may also call the Traffic Department.
