- Bighearted HSA Staff Help Out
- In a display of compassion characteristic towards those under their care, Health Services staff went beyond the call of duty to help a patient return to his native Honduras after an accident left him paralysed.
- Bodden Town Health Centre Re-Opens
- District residents and Health Services staff celebrated the re-opening of the Jessie Ritch Memorial Health Centre -- the only facility closed due to damage from Hurricane Ivan.
- Education Ministry Gives Thanks
- The Ministry held an appreciation evening, thanking those involved in getting the school system back on its feet following Hurricane Ivan. Special mention went to teachers (82 were homeless) who worked tirelessly cleaning and sorting in wet, dirty, mouldy conditions.
- Environmental Fellowships
- Three funded positions are available at the Centre for Ecology and Conservation, University of Exeter in Cornwall, for applicants from UK Overseas Territories to study for a Master’s degree in conservation and biodiversity.
- ITALIC Upgrade
- The ITALIC (Improving Teaching and Learning in the Cayman Islands) software programmes Reading Upgrade and Comprehension Upgrade are currently being used in government high schools (years 7–12) to teach reading and writing by using songs, video and games.

- Looking for a way to support safe teen driving? On Sunday 1 May come to the Cracked Conch by the Sea in West Bay as the management hosts a charity brunch for the Mattsafe organisation.
- Restoring Cayman’s Natural Beauty
- For Earth Day, the Department of Environment spearheaded a large mangrove planting session in South Sound with more than 150 volunteers helping to re-plant 502 seedlings.
- Safety on the Site
- Inspectors from the Department of Employment Relations are conducting impromptu visits to assess the level of safety procedures in place at construction sites, checking, for example, essential protective equipment, scaffolding, and materials storage.
- School Registration Begins
- Registration for all new students enrolling in government schools for the 2005/6 school year began on Monday, 25 April. Along with students transferring to government schools, all children who will be aged five before 31 January 2006 must be registered.
